Review: Leather Cases for Motorola Atrix 4G

Looking for a durable leather case for you new Atrix 4G? We review 3 of the best including Dooney & Bourke Dickies, Swiss Leatheware Alps Holster and the Nite Ize Leather Cargo Clip Case.  The Motorola’s Atrix 4G is a sleek and powerful phone that is going to change the market and further blur the line between smartphone and computer. There is only one thing that could make this phone better, not shattering the second it hits the ground after it slips through someone’s fingers. Outside of an expensive warranty, the best investment is a custom fit case. Motorola Atrix leather cases can be durable, elegant, and everything in between. Here is a list of some of the best cases for the butterfingers or fashion savvy in all of us.

Dooney & Bourke may have made a name for themselves producing handbags and clutches, but are now producing an Atrix 4g leather case for all occasions. These cases stand out for two distinct reason. The first is the trademarked and iconic DB design that covers the surface of each and every case. The second aspect is the carry-all function that has been designed to fit on the inside. The main pouch houses the phone while there are slots to carry credit cards, keys, makeup, cash, or other accessories. With a hard snap closure and detachable wrist strap, this is one of the most beautiful and functional Motorola Atrix leather cases out there.

On the opposite end of the spectrum from Dooney & Bourke is the Dickies Tool Bag Horizontal Pouch. Dickies does not just produce steel-toed boots and fire, water, and bullet proof casual slacks. They have decided to extend their legendary protective fabrics and design over to the smartphone market. This Atrix 4g leather case was made to throw against the wall or toss down a well and keep the phone working. There is a three inch belt loop, a heavy-duty Velcro closure which is dust resistant, and a Multidapt clip system to attach the case to almost anything imaginable.

If your phone is your lifeline, and with the Atrix 4G it should be, then easy access needs to be in the design of any case. The Swiss Leatheware Alps Holster case has continued the longstanding belief in the dominance of Swiss engineering. The thick leather covers all sides of the phone with a clip to attach to a belt. Elastic straps run along the side to close tightly around the phone without restricting access. This is the perfect case to buy if your pockets are full of melting gum, keys, and a 500 dollar phone.

Nite Ize has developed their own Leather Cargo Clip Case to house the Atrix 4G with a few key features that put it in contention for the best case on the market. The streamlined look is immediately noticeable with soft leather and a simplistic design that is handsome but not showy. Just like the Swiss Leatherware case, elastic straps are used to keep the phone snuggly inside, but this case is slightly different. There is a thick leather flap that covers the top of the case with a Velcro closure. This mix of elastic and Velcro was used to offer maximum protection without using any magnets or snaps that may interfere with WiFi and 4G reception on the phone.

With a phone like the Atrix 4G, gum in the pocket, an accidental drop, or a sudden downpour can become a very expensive proposition. A leather case will take the abuse and keep the phone running.
